This indicator considers as landscape features small non-productive elements within agricultural landscapes, providing support for biodiversity and the supply of ecosystem services. This definition includes several non-productive elements of European agricultural landscapes, such as hedges, ponds, ditches, trees in line or in-group or isolated, field margins, terraces, dry-stone or earth walls, springs or historic canal networks.

Method: 1) Processing of the Land Use/Cover Area frame Survey (LUCAS) landscape features (LF) module comprising 92,382 unique point IDs, each with 41 sub-points that made up the LF quadrat for that point ID, for a total of 3,787,662 records of LF types, or their lack, across the EU; 2) estimation of the proportion of LF to agricultural land based on LUCAS core and sampling stratification layers.
